Asti Ice Bucket

The Asti ice bucket story centers around the iconic collaboration between Italian architect and designer Sergio Asti and Heller. Sergio Asti was tasked by Alan Heller to create a minimalist, highly functional ice bucket that could become a logical extension of the iconic Max dinnerware collection in terms of design language. Designed in 1972, the ice bucket is still celebrated for its sleek, cylindrical shape, which is both stylish and practical. It features a smooth, glossy exterior with a handle built into the lid, making it easy to carry and use. The Sergio Asti ice bucket quickly became a design classic, featured in design exhibitions and collections worldwide. Its enduring popularity speaks to the timeless appeal of its design, embodying a balance of form and function. It's often used as an example of how everyday objects can become iconic through intelligent design and thoughtful craftsmanship. In 2025, Heller is reissuing the original Asti design, updating the material to reflect the current need for sustainability by using post-consumer recycled plastics.
