MEET SAM

Sam is the point of view behind Isle at Ease.

With a background in sales and design, she spent years around objects before deciding to trust her own eye. What started as making things by hand—woodworking, building, experimenting—brought her back to something more instinctive: a way of choosing, arranging, and creating space.

That instinct shapes the shop. Everything in Isle at Ease is there because Sam chose it—objects that feel considered, a little unexpected, and meant to be lived with. She’s drawn to independent designers and small makers for the work itself: thoughtful, well-made, and intentional.

Sam designed much of the store herself and is always adjusting it—moving things, building new displays, following what feels right rather than what’s expected.

Isle at Ease isn’t about perfection or “mindful living.” It’s about good objects, a strong point of view, and a space you actually want to spend time in.

It’s a place you come back to, even when you didn’t mean to.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME

There’s a certain rhythm to the shop—the door opening, people wandering in, something catching your eye.

Sam created Isle at Ease as a space to explore—homewares, table pieces, and textiles that range from subtle to bold, all chosen with care. Every corner offers something different, whether you’re drawn to quiet, minimal pieces or something more expressive.

It’s a place to take your time, look around, and find what feels right.

More than anything, Isle at Ease is meant to be a space where people feel comfortable being themselves. Everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and welcome.

Isle at Ease is a space where everyone is welcome—no exceptions.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We acknowledge that Isle at Ease operates on the land known as Mi'kma'ki, the traditional and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people. This territory is governed by the "Treaties of Peace and Friendship," which were first signed with the British Crown in 1725. These treaties, importantly, did not transfer the rights to the land and resources but recognized Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) titles, setting the foundation for an ongoing inter-nation relationship.

At Isle at Ease, we believe that connection is the essence of community. We are committed to respecting and reinforcing these treaties, recognizing our role as Treaty people. We pledge to actively participate in the process of reconciliation, ensuring our practices honor and reflect the spirit of these agreements.

By weaving the principles of these treaties into the fabric of our connections—whether with our artisans, customers, or the wider community—we aim to foster a space that is not only inclusive but also actively engaged in mending and honoring the relationships with the original custodians of this land.

Join us in our commitment to building meaningful relationships that acknowledge our past, engage with our present, and hope for a respectful, shared future. Learn about whose land you live on.
